If any brewery is known for pushing limits, it is Prairie Artisan Ales. Known far and wide for their sours (I counted 10 on the menu recently at the Prairie OKC location on NE 8th), they have ventured nicely into other varietals as well. I was especially taken with their IPAs.
While Prairie does not offer flights, you can still order short pours, which achieves the same end ultimately. It’s kind of like having a flight, but without the serving tray.
And so I did, with the following quartet of amazing brews: OH to OK (IPA; 6.7% ABV; 112 IBU), Slovenian Slammer (NEIPA; 7.1% ABV; unknown IBU), New Year, New Me (NEIPA; 7.2% ABV; unknown IBU), and Euro Pils (Pilsner; 5% ABV; unknown IBU). The Pilsner was actually a great finish to my evening, after all the happiness of the first three. Back in Texas, I have also had their Y’all IPA on tap, and it too is delicious.
I like how Prairie has managed to brew accessible beers that do not upset the sensibilities of the average craft beer warrior. To me that means beer that I could have a few refills, not having to worry about my ability to get home. The high-alcohol varieties some breweries love to wow patrons with are just not high on my list.
I would have had more than my four short pours, but I was on a six-hour, four-brewery tour (with dinner in between), and thus pacing myself. This is a definite must-return, especially since it is only a block or so from another strong craft brewery. Oh, and pickle ball in the same building? Now we’re talking.
UPDATE 11/2: Upgrade to four stars. The GM reached out and made things right, and we'll definitely be back again at some point to give them another chance. I appreciate a business that genuinely cares about their customers' experiences!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: The two sours we tried were decent. This was our first time here. After we'd gotten coffee at Prelude upstairs (which was excellent), we thought we'd drop in on Prairie for a quick try, since it had been on my list for awhile of breweries to check out. This was on a Sunday morning and we were the first customers there, so it was not busy at all. Yet, somehow we managed to both feel that we got unfriendly service. How do you explain a vibe? The woman working there didn't do or say anything wrong, but it just felt like she didn't care for us being there. We both felt the same way about her vibe. Didn't feel friendly or welcoming at all. Disappointing, not sure if we'll be back again.
I love Prairie Artisan Ales! I was very excited to finally make it to the OKC location. I miss the Tulsa location. The space is nice and open. Their beers are always great!
I was disappointed that flights weren’t available, but 4oz options are available. You can have 2 at a time, so it’s still a great option to be able to try lots of options.

Medio Mango are the ones I tried. And picked up some stuff to go too!
My fiancé and I went here last summer, and it's the best brewery we've been to due to their extensive sours menu. I don't like "typical" beer, but this place had many beers that I wanted to try. Ended up getting a few flights. Their gummy shark beer is especially memorable. I don't live anywhere near OKC and we were just passing through last time, but this brewery was the biggest highlight.
Kimberly and I were on a quick trip through a few towns in Oklahoma. Why? Because we had never been. The Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile and the Prairie brewery taproom in OKC were our only planned stops. We were winging the rest. I’m familiar with Prairie beer and yup, it’s my favorite brewery. The visit to Prairie did not disappoint. We had a great time sitting at the bar, enjoying the best beers. Bartender Adam was super friendly (everyone in OK is so gosh darn nice!) and he was knowledgeable about the pours. Once he found out that we made our way from Orlando to stop by, he placed a friendly bag of Prairie sticker and koozie swag in front of us. Thanks Adam! The beer is the best, but you probably already know this. Cheers! 🍻
P.S.—I haven’t even mentioned the Pickleball court. Wow!
Amazing selection! We tried a variety and all were worth going back for! One of my favorite local breweries.
🍻 Prarie is one of the best, and longest running, breweries in OKC! Their sours are the best I’ve had and the Christmas Bomb (seasonal, obvi) is like an ugly sweater Christmas party in your mouth. 😋
The location is great, too. Located in Automobile Alley in the heart of downtown OKC, in the 8th Street Market where you can also find some great food and pickle ball courts! 🏓
We really enjoyed this place. I loved every single beer we tried. The key lime pie, let them drink cake and the color block were my top 3 if I had to choose. I was so impressed by their selections of sours and my husband enjoyed trying the stouts! Definitely would recommend stopping in here for a few!
